The World Test Championship 2023-25 teams for both India and West Indies will be unveiled during the Test series. India will need to win the ODI series to gear up for the Cricket World Cup to be held at the end of the year.

After losing the World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval, India have made some important decisions by bringing in some fresh faces for the Test setup. The team has included two uncapped batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad in place of veteran batsman Cheteshwar Pujara.

In the IPL, Jaiswal and Gaikwad, who opened the batting for Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings respectively, have been impressive. Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav are not in the team, but fast bowlers Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini are. In addition, Ajinkya Rahane has been chosen as the vice-captain of the team, while Rohit Sharma will continue to be the captain. Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out as he has not fully recovered from his back injury.

Several regular players have also been included in the ODI squad, while Gaikwad has also been included in the white-ball squad. Sanju Samsom is also back, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have been ruled out due to injury.

Jaydev Unadkat and Mohammed Siraj are also picked in the limited-overs squad, along with Mukesh Kumar, who is back as the fast bowler. The section of fast bowling is completed by Umran Malik. In addition, India has four possibilities for spin bowling in the ODI squad: Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel.

The ODI team will be captained by Rohit Sharma, with Hardik Pandya serving as his assistant.

Dominica will host the first Test on July 12 while Trinidad will host the final Test on July 24. Following suit, the three-match series will take place from July 27 to August 1.

India has not yet selected its team for the T20I series.
