There is every possibility of Kamal Haasan contesting from Coimbatore in the DMK alliance.
In the upcoming 2024 general elections, MNM founder president Kamal Haasan is most likely to contest from the DMK alliance in the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency.
Chennai: Tamil superstar and MNM founder Kamal Haasan is most likely to contest from the Coimbatore Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 general elections.
According to highly placed sources in the MNM, the DMK is interested in giving the Coimbatore seat to Kamal Haasan because of his excellent performance in the 2021 Assembly polls, where he lost to BJP’s Vanathi Srinivasan by 1,728 votes.
On Sunday, Kamal Haasan launched MNM’s ‘Makkalodu Maiyam’ statewide outreach campaign in Coimbatore South assembly constituency.
The MNM intends to talk to residents in each of Tamil Nadu’s 234 assembly districts, with party leaders and cadre holding meetings with individuals at the ward and panchayat levels to discuss the challenges they are currently facing. This includes concerns that people’s representatives have chosen to ignore in their particular constituencies.
According to a senior member of the party leadership, the MNM will develop its election platform based on inputs from the general public.
The party leadership said that to gain a better understanding of each constituency, each ward secretary is given a list of 25 binary questions about basic services in their area in the form of a Google form.
According to MNM sources who spoke to IANS, party office-bearers from Coimbatore district have already urged the Tamil superstar to contest from Coimbatore district in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
It must be remembered that Kamal Haasan recently gave a car to Sharmila, a bus driver from Tamil Nadu who lost her job due to the bus driving scam by DMK politician Kanimozhi. When the bus conductor asked Kanimozhi for the ticket fare, Sharmila argued with him. As a result, the owner of the bus company fired Sharmila from her job. He was given a new car by Kamal Haasan, who also invited him to stay at his residence in Chennai.
The car gifted by Kamal to Coimbatore actress Sharmila is seen as a strategy by the Tamil superstar to garner support in the region.
